| Kalinchok Trekking |
Kalinchok is a hillside village located to the north of Kathmandu and not so far from the border region with Tibet. A trek in this region begins with a bus ride from Kathmandu, through the lush foothills and to Barabise. During this trek you will pass through many remote and beautiful villages, taking in the culture and life style of the Tamang, Sherpa and Brahmin people that live there. You will also visit isolated monasteries and colorful temples. The highlights of this trek is the superb views of Annapurna, Lamjunga, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Shisha Panga, Langtang, Dorjee Lokpa, Jugal Himal, Amabamori, Gauri, Shanker, Melamchi and Namburi Himal. Perhaps this region offers the most comprehensive views going in the Himalaya and it is sure to leave you awestruck. During the trek you will pass long the Sunkoshi River and through many Rhododendron forests, on clear nights you can also see the lights of Kathmandu. Another highlight of this trek is the rare chance to get up close and personal with the Thami people, a small and little heard about community living in this region, it certainly offers you a rare glimpse into a unique lifestyle. |
