Best time to visit Tibet

Autumn (April-October) is regarded as the supreme period to travel Tibet as you can get best landscape and enjoy a comfortable weather. The golden time for travelling is August and September. Literally, it is suitable to visit Tibet all year around as you can visit different region in different seasons such as you can explore Nyingchi in spring, visit Mount Everest in summer and discover Lhasa in winter.

Tibets spring is from March to May. In spring, most tourists travel to Shannan, Shigatse, Lhasa and Nyingchi prefectures. There are lots of travelers to Nyingchi to see the peach blossom. These prefectures are suitable for a tour all year round. In spring, the temperature of Lhasa at night could fall to -2?, -3?, and in daytime, the temperature will rise to 10?. The climate in Nyingchi is milder in spring and the air is not so dry. Here, you may not feel like you are on a plateau, and just at some water town at Yangtze River Delta.

Summer in Tibet is very comfortable and last from June to August. The sky is blue and the clouds are white, and temperature is moderate. The sun is burning, but the body is comfort. This sentence seems contradictory, but it is a true reflection of the climate in Tibet. The sun is certainly powerful, but as the air is dry, if you can avoid the sun, the human body has a sense of appropriate comfort, no as hot and humid as inland provinces. Therefore, most of the tourists choose to travel to Tibet in summer.

Each year from September to November is Tibets fall. The fall likes a fairy tale world of Tibet. Many travelers will choose travel to Tibet in autumn. Most of the days in autumn here are with blue skies, little rain and more and more dry air. Morning and night are with slightly lower temperatures and there is large temperature difference between day and night. Remember buying thick clothes, do not catch a cold. Tibets autumn also has strong ultraviolet ray. In October, the weather will be just like the weather in winter. High wind is mainly distributing at Nagri, Nagqu and Chamdo.

Lhasa winter (March-May) is not as cold as you think, as the high latitudes and plenty of sunshine during the day in Lhasa brings the temperature to above 10?, while evening is around zero, warmer than many places in the north China. Lhasas climate is dry and you do not feel cold under the sunshine, especially comfortable.
