Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai, on Wednesday, launched free SIM card service for foreign tourists entering the country via Tribhuvan International Airport.
The service was launched by providing a free SIM card to a foreign couple. State-run Nepal Telecom has started providing free SIM card with balance of Rs 50 to tourists from Tuesday.
Issuing a statement, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) said the facility would help to promote Nepal as a safe destination which starts with good communication right from the airport.
All SIM cards have been pre-activated by Nepal Telecom. Nepal Tourism Board is the partner organization in its distribution channel. Along with the SIM card, tourists are also provided “I am in Nepal Now” selfie card with important contacts in Nepal, according to the statement.
