Kailash to be the residence of Lord Shiva whereas Buddhists refer this holy mountain as a terrestrial projection of the cosmic Mandela of Dhyani - Buddha’s & Bodhisattvas. The wheel of Life; for the Bonpo, Kailash was the sacred nine storey Swastika Mountain, upon which the Bonpo founder Sherab alighted from heaven. The four of the greatest rivers of the Indian sub-continent originate from the Kailash/Mansarover region i.e. the Karnali, which feeds into the Ganges (south); the Indus (north); the Sutlez (west) & the Brahmaputra (Yarlung Tsangpo, east).
