Packing List For Tibet Tour

Embarking on a journey to Tibet, a land of majestic landscapes and rich cultural heritage, requires careful consideration of the unique climate and conditions. To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable trip, packing the right clothes and equipment is crucial. The activities that you embark whilst in Tibet also determines the things you are required to pack. To avoid making your luggage and backpack cumbersome, here’s a guide to help you prepare for your adventure to the “Roof of the World.”

Clothing:

Head: While traveling through cold, dry and windy landscapes of Tibet, protecting you head is a must. You should pack one Sun Cap/Hat to protect your face from direct sunlight, and One Fleece Cap that will make you warm in windy and cold climate of Tibet.

Upper Body: Packing for upper body is a crucial. To protect yourself from cold and windy climate packing your bag with essential upper body clothing is significant. You should have One Thick Down jacket, 4-5 breathable and quick dry T-shirts, One Hoodie, one fleece and One long sheeve wind breaker or jacket is going to protect you from the harsh climate of Tibet. Even if you are venturing on the demanding and treacherous trekking trails of Tibet above mentioned packing list is going to serve you well.

Lower Body: For lower body you can pack 3-4 light weight, quick dry and breathable pants. Packing 2 thermal pants to layer up and keeping your leg warm is going to elevate your traveling experience. We suggest you to not pack Denim pants as they can be heavy and constricting while walking long distance. Even if you are trekking in Tibetan trails these clothing will be sufficient.

Under Garments: Depending upon the number of day you have desired to spend, you can pack sufficient number of underwear as per you requirement. Make sure that the choice of your garments is comfortable and breathable.

 

Footwear:

Shoes: Choosing the right footwear while traveling to Tibet can depend upon the type of the activities that you will indulge while being in Tibet. Packing a durable and comfortable sport shoe is necessary while traveling to Tibet. Additionally, if you are planning to Trek while in trekking then you should pack a durable trekking shoes having ankle support. These shoes are going to assure all the needs required to comfort your feet while traveling to Tibet.

Socks: We advise you to pack at least 6-7 pairs of socks while traveling to Tibet. It will protect your feet from cold and also avoid blisters that can arise from friction with shoes.

Equipment and Gears:

Bags: Good selection of bag to carry your belongings is an important thing. If you are planning to trek, then having a good quality trekking bag with capacity at least 50 liter is must. If you are not going to trek then you can carry a duffle bag, that is lesser than capacity 50 liters, and no more than two hand carry bags, that will hold all of your belongings. Carrying a fanny pack to hold important documents and quick access gears can be useful whether you are trekking or not.

Electronic Gears: You should pack electronic goods you think you should have while traveling through beautiful landscapes of Tibet. You can bring a camera, mobile phone, chargers, binoculars and their chargers.

Flashlights: A bright flashlight can be needed to guide you the way in dark, if night arrived before you reach your destination.

Personal Hygiene and Toiletries: It is better to bring Cosmetics and personal hygiene that you use regularly. We recommend you to not miss face wash, moisturizer and sunscreen, as the weather is dry and windy. Also, a good lip balm and clean, dry towel can be a useful amenity.

Medical Kit: Whilst it is essential to have a medical kit in case of unfortunate accident, our guides at Breakfree Adventure can provide you with first aid kit if necessary.

Cultural Consideration:

While visiting the monasteries and religious sites in Tibet we request all the travelers to dress modestly. Dresses covering shoulders and knees will be a sign of respect for the cultural values and sentiments of Tibetan people.

Also learning useful and most spoken Tibetan phrases and words of greetings can be useful weapon on your arsenal.
