Overview

Annapurna Base Camp Heli Trek is an itinerary package so made that you get to trek to the Base Camp of Mount Annapurna where mountaineers make preparation to scale the 8000 plus meter peak and then to fly back by helicopter, getting an aerial view of not only Mount Annapurna but also other surrounding snow-capped ranges.

This trek in which you fly out from Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) take you to the destination of the base camp where mountaineers make preparations to scale the 8000 plus mountain, said to be more difficult than Mount Everest to climb. On the way, you are hike daily to places of astonishing wonders such as Poonhill to catch the sun rising over the Annapurna ranges, Machhapuchhare and other Himalayan peaks in the Annapurna range. In addition to stopping off at Tadapani where some of the finest hot springs sprout out to bathe your tired muscles. In all addition to all this, you pass through some of the best forest and landscape that this Himalayan region has to offer. On the trek, you also pass through another base camp known as Machhapuchhare Base camp before you hit the final destination. The daily hikes also let you into the finest flora and fauna that the Annapurna region has to offer. When all is finally said and done at ABC, you are flown back to Pokhara while getting some of the best aerial views of the different Annapurna peaks and ranges along with other Mount peaks covered with snow the year round.

There is much that you can gain by taking this short trip so much that you would like to try out some longer trips in the Annapurna trekking region or other treks in Nepal. The first being that you get to the base camp of Annapurna, where mountaineers make preparations to scale the most difficult mountain to climb in Nepal. The next, you get to hike daily while taking the scintillating views of the different ranges of Annapurna, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhare, Gangapurna and others. Then there is the Poonhill that you climb to get an early morning view of the sun rising over the snow-capped mountains giving you are mesmerizing fairy tale sense of it with the surroundings. Yet, again, there are the hot springs of Tadapani that with its mineral enriched contains gives you a rejuvenating bath. Last but not the least, the flora and fauna along with the villages that you pass through bring out thoughts of rural living while hold culture and tradition to their hearts. Finally, it is the ride back by helicopter which gives you some of the best views of the Annapurna and other Himalayans ranges from above. So much so that when you return, that you will feel rejuvenated from just having done a trek in such a pristine welcoming unpolluted terrain.

Where do we stay while on ABC heli trek?
When you are in Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will always be lodged at a three-star hotel. While on the trek, you are accommodated at the best lodges and guesthouse the different nightly humble destinations have to offer. All of them, are on twin sharing bases with attached toilets as far as possible but when you come closer to the Higher the toilets well be common. As for the food, you get both western and Nepali for. You can choose as you please. But as a bit of advice, it would be better to try out the Nepalese food as the food is the best suit with vegetables from the surrounding areas. On the way, while hiking you would stop at what is known as tea houses which also serve meals.

Outline Trekking Itinerary for Annapurna Base Camp Heli Trek
Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu
Day 2: Fly to Pokhara (25 min) and Trek Thike Dhunga (1495m) (5 hr hike)
Day 3: Thike Dhunga to Ghorepani (2850m) (7 hr Hike)
Day 4: Hike to Poonhill (3210m) and onto Tadapani (2500m) (6 hr hike)
Day 5: Tadapani to Sinuwa (2310m) (6 hr hike)
Day 6: Sinuwa to Deurali (3150m) (6 hr hike)
Day 7: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4210m) (5 hr hike)
Day 8: ABC to Pokhara (by Helicopter) and then Kathmandu
Day 9: Transfer to airport for your onward destination

Itinerary

Today is the day you arrive in Nepal. So a representative of the company will be there to welcome you when your flight arrives at the International Airport. He will take you by private vehicle to the three star hotel booked for you. If you have remaining time in the day, you could freshen up and then haunt the vicinity of your hotel area.

Today, you take an early flight to Pokhara from where you hike for about five hours to Thike Dhunga. But first we take a one hour drive to Nayapul from where we start the hike It is a slight ascent though a forest while on the way you catch your first glimpses of the Annapurna Mount and Machhapuchhare. You stay the night at a lodge in Thike Dhunga.

Today we begin hiking towards Ghorepani. First crossing the Bhurungdi Khola over a suspension bridge and then to up a soft slop in through pastures and fields being cultivated, after which it is through rhododendron and oak forests to get to Nangethanti. Then through a forest once more to reach the day's destination of Ghorepani. We stay the night here at a lodge.

Early morning before the sun rises, we hike to the top of Poonhill, to catch the sun rise over the Annpurna range and Machhapuchhare which is as majestic as if out from a fairy tale book. Being a while there, we then hike onwards to Tadapani which first takes us back to Ghorepani from where we then head to Tadapani. Once there we can take a dip in the hot mineral enrich waters to rejuvenate our bodies. We stay the night here at a lodge.

Today, we hike towards Sinuwa. We first take the trail to Ghandruk and on the way, we leave it and descend into a thick forest and terraced cultivated fields to cross a suspension bridge at Kimrong river and then slowly walk up to Taulung, via a steep ascend we get to the large Gurung village of Chhomrong. From here descending to the Chhomrong river below, we cross a suspension bridge and the begin ascending toward Sinuwa. Here, we stay the night at a lodge.

Today we head to Deurali in a 6 hour hike. We begin with an easy ascent all the way to Khuldigar through a wood of rhododendron and Oak trees. From here it is onto a place known as Bamboo. This place is full of bamboos, flowers and ferns. Then taking to the west bank of the River Modi, we get to Dobhan. Before getting to Deurali, we enjoy the cave at Hinku where the area is covered with snow and burnt grass. At Deurali, we spend the night at a lodge.

Today is the final day of hike where we head to our destination at Annapurna Base Camp. On the day’s hike, we first head to Machhapuchhare Base Camp. Spending a while there taking in the wonderful view of the fishtail mountain, we begin our hike again crossing some avalanche places. Turning left from here, we enter the Annapurna Sanctuary. You spot the glaciers of the Annapurna from here. Walking for another an hour and half brings you to the Base camp of Annapurna. We stay at a lodge for the night at ABC.

Today instead of hiking, we take a helicopter ride back to Pokhara, in which we get an aerial view of the snow-capped Annapurna Ranges and Machhapuchhare from above. In Pokhara, you take the first flight back to Kathmandu (30 minutes). In Kathmandu, you are checked into a three star hotel. You can spend the remaining portion of the day as you might please. In the Evening, if you are not exhausted by then, you will be taken to an authentic Nepali restaurant for a farewell with the staff of the company. You stay the night at the hotel.

Today, as per the timing of your flight, you will be taken to the airport three hours ahead of your flight out by a representative of the company to bid you fare well and for your check in formalities.
