From there we will retrace our step back to Jhinu, from where the trail begins to approach and ultimately merge to Mardi Himal Trekking trail. We will again retrace or steps back to Low camp where we will descend a steep stairway to Sidhing Village, from where we will drive to Pokhara. Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal Trek is moderate-graded trekking. Normally you will have to walk about 6-7 hours per day. The trekking trails have long climbs, steep descents, and straight roads. Though no technical experience or skill is required for the trek, if you have past hiking experience then it’s beneficial. Hikers who can walk 6-7 hours each day with a light backpack can do this trek. So, you need to be reasonably fit since trekking in high altitudes is physically demanding.

Welcome to the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, the land of pure mysticism and spirituality. The capital, Kathmandu is also known as the “city of temples”, is in itself a historical and cultural chornicle which encapsulates civil evolution of people of the region.
Our representative will welcome you at the airport and chauffer you to the designated Hotel. For early arrivals, after getting fresh if interested you can explore around the city or else you can rest and relax to recover from jetlag. At evening you can go shopping for Trekking gears and other essentials at Thamel.

You can either take a flight to Pokhara or by bus/private vehicle. The flight is about 25 to 30 minutes whereas overland drive is about 6 to 7 hours.
The flight to Pokhara will allow you to witness beautiful scenery of treacherous hilly geography of Nepal. On the northern side you will get beautiful scenery of mountain wall. The rivers and streams flowing below you will mesmerize and give you a chance to admire nature and its prowess.
Going overland it will take you roughly 6-7 hours, you will get to witness beautiful scenery of surrounding hilly topography and drive pass through roaring rivers of Trishuli and Marshyangdi, small villages, highway eateries etc.
Upon reaching Pokhara, you will be checked in at a hotel for the night. Pokhara is a stunning valley known for numerous lakes – like Phewa, Begnas etc and you can also catch glimpses of mountains like Annapurna (8,091m/26,545ft), Machapuchare (6,993m/22,942ft), Dhaulagiri (8,169m/26,801ft), Manaslu (8,156m/26,758ft), and Lamjung Himal (6,983m/22,910ft). Pokhara is a traveller paradise with all the amenities imparting all comforts.

You can roam around the lake side city of Pokhara and enjoy the vivid night life of this beautiful city as well or else you can rest at your hotel room and get ready for next day’s trek.

After hearty breakfast, we will drive to Nayapul from Pokhara, the trek’s start-point.
From Nayapul we will trek to Ghandruk which is at the distance of about 9.6 Km or 5.9 miles and takes 5-6 hours. You will hike up a slightly steep gradient. Along the way you will be offered some of the most magnificent view of the Annapurna massif including Machhapuchhre. Upon arrival at Ghandruk, check-in your lodge. You can take a short walk around this beautiful village, mostly habituated by the Gurung Community. The culture and tradition of Gurung community will not fail to astonish you. There is also a Gurung village museum.

Today we start the day in Ghandruk we will have breakfast watching surrounding mountain vistas getting sunkissed. Then you start the trek to Chhomrung. The trail ascends up for an hour to Ghandrukkot and then down to Kimron Khola. Here onwards you need to hike steep trail right till Chhomrung (2,170m/7,119ft). En-route, you will spot peaks like Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre. The verdant forest, peaceful environment, constant gushing sound of river, and chirping sounds of birds will amalgamate your soul with nature. Chhomrung is a small hamlet below the gigantic Annapurna.

Hike today will take you from Chhomrong to Dovan, it’s a moderate hike through lush forest with several ascends and descends.
You will take the path along the Modi Khola after which you start climbing slowly up the forested slops. You will then have to cross a suspension bridge and move down to Sinuwa Danda. After passing Sinuwa Danda, you hike to Khuldighar through a dense Rhododendron Forest. If you embark on this hike during spring you will get to witness the red colour of Rhododendron trounce over the green of the forest. You finally get to Doven after crossing a slop of stones into a thick bamboo groove and rhododendron forest, where we stop for the night.

The hike today is to the base camp of Mt. Machhapuchhre (3,700m/12,139ft).
First, you will slightly descend following a path above a river and a thick forest where you cross two streams and then through some lonely places with wonderful sceneries in which you might come across wild pigs, deer and snow leopards. Later on, it is a climb to Hinko cave and then begin descending to Deurali. Going further we will reach Bagar where the path takes you to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC). The beauty of this trail will connect your soul to the nature and surrounding landscapes. From the base camp, get amazing views of Machhapuchhare, Mount Annapurna, Hiunchuli, Annapurna South and others.

Finally, it’s hike to Annapurna Base Camp which should be about 3 hours walking.
Upon reaching the base camp enjoy 360-degree majestic view of mountain vistas up close. After spending some time at the base camp, you will hike back to Dovan witnessing some of the best mountain and glacial sceneries.

Today, trekkers will retrace their steps all the way to Jhinu (1,760m/5,774ft). The path takes you uphill over stone steps to a ridge before getting to Sinuwa and then goes down till you reach Chhomrung, hiking further ahead, you reach Jhinu for the night’s stay.

Today, the trek is to the Forest Camp which is mostly steep climb upward, through oak and rhododendron forest all day long.
Today’s hike will deviate you from Annapurna Base Camp Trekking trail and connect you to Mardi Himal Trekking Trail. The thick forest is inhabited by many rare and exotic animal. If you are lucky enough you might get glimpse of Leopard, and other endangered animals.

The trail today, will take you through dense rhododendron forest to Low camp. The vegetation found while following the trail is mesmerizing. Following the trail, you will have to ascend steeply for a while and then a gradual climb. The mountain peaks standing like ardent obelisk will spy you all along the trek as you traverse through thick forest. After reaching the low camp you will be awarded by majestic view of Mount Machhapuchhare.
Overnight stay at a Lodge at Low Camp.
Today you will reach high mountain grasses through rhododendron forests. You will be gaining elevation of around 600 meters or 1,968 feet; the climb is going to be steep but with proper breaks in between the walks you can easily get to the High camp. If you are lucky, you might also stumble upon the pheasants found in the region like; Himalayan Monal, a beautiful bird also known as Impeyan Monal, along with Dhanpe in Nepali. Continuously walking for about 4 hours will reach High Camp.

In order to see magnificent sunrise from the Upper View Point of Mardi Himal Trek, we will start our day early in the morning. You will witness radiant yolky sun arising from horizon, and lighting up the valley, mountains and crevices between the hill ridges. You will have to cross over grasslands with ascends here and there. Reaching Upper View Point will provide you a panoramic view of Himalayan peaks all around. On western part you will observe Hiunchuli, Annapurna Massif, on the north you will see Machhapuchhre, Mardi Himal and other surrounding peaks. The hike will be a bit strenuous as the trail is extremely steep at some sections, but with proper breaks anyone can get to the Upper View Point of Mardi Himal. Afterward, we will return to High Camp.

We will retrace our steps descending to Lower Camp, then you will have to turn to another trail that takes you through stone paved steep stairway.
The trail will take you to Siding village, despite the trail taking us to lower elevation the walk is quite arduous due to steepness of the trail. You will pass though oak tree forest, small water fountain and tea houses throughout the trail. Walking further down will reach Siding Village.

After having breakfast and descending down the same trail for some time, we will get to the jeep station. From jeep station we will take a jeep which will take us to Pokhara. The jeep will journey across, long and winding roads carved on the hill. The scenic route will take you through beautiful local village of Ghalel. The jeep will later descend and traverse along the banks of Madi Khola, and eventually to Pokhara. You will have plenty of daytime remaining, which you can utilize to explore Pokhara or to rest at your hotel to enervate tiredness incurred after completing the adventurous trek

Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus or private vehicle tracing the same route back to Kathmandu and enjoying the sceneries along the way. You can also take a flight and avoid unnecessary traffic jam that you might encounter while on the road. At Kathmandu check-in hotel. In the evening, we will host you for a farewell dinner at one of the authentic Nepali restaurants with the staff of the company.

Packing list depends upon the season you are trekking but it will be colder in the mountains round the year so packing warm clothing is suggested.
Starting from the head, you will need Sun hat or scarf or winter hat or insulating hat or Wide-brimmed hat. Also, Sunscreen, Sunglass with UV protection, Face/body wipes. For the hands, Lightweight gloves or Heavyweight winter gloves.
For the body, Hiking shirts, Long-sleeved shirt, hooded rain jacket, Fleece jacket, Lightweight cotton pants, T-Shirt (bring Lightweight wool), Polypropylene underwear, Down jacket if you already have (also to be provided by the company including sleeping bag), Sweater, Waterproof jacket and pants.
Footwear should be Hiking Boots and Thick wool socks (Take an extra pair of thick light socks)
Other essential things include Backpack or daypack, Thermal bottle, Water purification, Medium size drying towel, Toothbrush, Toothpaste etc. though these items can be purchased whilst in Kathmandu too.
What will be the temperature during the trek?
Temperature varies from month to month during Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal Trek which are:
– March to May is the best months to trek with temperature between 10 to 0°C.
– June to August, the temperature is from 10°C to 23°C during the day and nights will be 5°C to 10°C.
– September to November is yet another best time to hike with temperature at 20°C in high altitudes during day with nights being colder around 5°C.
While trekking in the Himalayas weather is the crucial factor and the same applies to Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal Trek. Though the trek can be done around the year, the best time is spring (Mar-May) and autumn (Mid-Sep to Mid- Nov) seasons. But for any adventure enthusiast, ABC trek can be done in winter or monsoon as well.
March-May (spring)
Spring (March-May) is one of the most suitable times for the Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal Trek. Climate is mild with low rainfall in this season and the perfect time for trekking. The daily temperature will be between 10 to 0°C. Lower trek areas are even warmer.
From mid-March, up to mid-May, the temperature starts to rise. The weather is cool in spring with clear skies and the clearest mountain views. Trek routes are filled with red, pink, and white rhododendron flowers.
June to August (summer)
Summer in Nepal is from June to August which is also the monsoon. Temperature is high in the mountains but the rain makes the trails wet and slippery. Day temperatures normally range from 10°C to 23°C and get comparatively colder at night (5°C to 10°C). Mornings are often clear and in summer, vegetation blooms with lush views which you cannot catch in other seasons.
September to November (autumn)
September, October, and November is the autumn season in Nepal. It’s another great season to trek like in spring. Weather will be moderate temperatures, mild wind, and low precipitation. Sun will be shining brightly with clear skies and gives you clear mountain views. By September monsoon will be over and it will be from mild to warm days. Daytime temperatures can reach up to 20°C in high altitudes. Nights are colder with temperatures around 5°C.
December to February (winter)
December to February is considered winter in Nepal when ABC region is cold. Adventurous trekkers can consider winter a good time to trek. Temperature can get as low as -10°C at Annapurna Base Camp. It will be plenty of sunshine during the day so will be warm. Even though it’s cold, winter skies are normally clear with a perfect view of the snow-capped mountains. The trails will also be less crowded in winter.
While trekking in higher altitude, it is important to acclimatize our body to the new environment with rarefied atmosphere. Failing to so can lead to altitude sickness, which can be fatal if not addressed immediately. But in Annapurna Base Camp with Mardi Hila Trek, we don’t need to have a separate acclimatization day. Except to the day hike from Dovan to Machhapuchhre Base Camp the elevation gain is not significant in other day during Annapurna Base Camp with Mardi Himal Trek.
Mountain sickness often starts from an elevation of 3,500m. Our trekking leaders and guides are properly-experienced and use oximeters to monitor your oxygen degree for early detection of altitude illness.
We will spend less time in altitude above 3500 meters, to be exact we will be spending less than 30 hours. So, separate acclimatization day is not essential while doing ABC Trek. Our guides will enervate any difficulties you might face during the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. We request our trekkers to hydrate and eat properly during the trekking.
Altitude illness in high mountain journeys is a common trouble, however it is preventable and wishes instantaneous remedy. However, if you fail to identify symptoms of altitude sickness, it can get severe. Some symptoms of altitude sickness are; headache, loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, feeling or being sick, feeling tired and exhausted. If you experience any of these symptoms, we request immediately inform our guides.
