Chitwan jungle safari is all about safari programs organized at the Chitwan National Park to observe wildlife including different species of birds, mammals and the natural environment of the park as well as witness the unique culture and traditions of Tharu community who are the local residents of Chitwan in Nepal.

Chitwan is located in the plains of Nepal called ‘Terai’ with Bharatpur – the fourth largest city of Nepal. Chitwan is closer to ‘Sunauli’ the border town of Nepal and India. Another popular tourist destination from Sunauli is Varanashi. Chitwan is also closer to Lumbini – the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

Chitwan wildlife safari offers various wildlife sightings like one horn rhino, different kinds of deer, sloth bears, leopards, crocodiles, monkeys as well as many different species of butterflies, insects and if luck favors ‘Royal Bengal Tiger’.

Chitwan can be reached either via drive or flight. You can connect with Chitwan either from Kathmandu or Pokhara including India via Sunauli border including from Lumbini. Various tourist buses ply from Kathmandu and Pokhara and the service of a private vehicle can also be taken.

Yes, there are flights to Chitwan both from Kathmandu or Pokhara. Kathmandu to Chitwan flight duration is 20 minutes with flight operating almost the whole day. Pokhara to Chitwan flight duration is just 10 minutes but this flight is limited, only one flight per day.

Drive Kathmandu to Chitwan is possible which duration is 5-6 hours and from Pokhara to Chitwan is also 5-6 hours. Please note these driving hours depend upon the traffic conditions on the highway and can be more. You can take either a tourist bus or private car for driving into Chitwan from Kathmandu/Pokhara.

It’s safe to travel by road but since Nepal is a mountainous country so you may find the highway a bit smaller than your country. Also during monsoon, there can be landslides en-route blocking the highway for hours. But the drivers are experienced and will take you to your destination without any risks.

Pick-up from Bharatpur airport is available as per your hotel location which costs a little extra besides your Chitwan package cost.

Yes, pick-up from Sauraha Bus Station is available and there won’t be any extra cost. We shall be waiting for you at the station then transfer to your hotel upon arrival.

Chitwan is a district name and Sauraha is the small village in Chitwan. Sauraha is the tourist hotspot with many hotels, lodges, restaurants, pubs, shops etc like Thamel or lakeside of Pokhara.

All the activities are done inside the Chitwan National Park except for elephant safari which is done in a community forest.

Elephant safari in Chitwan is the most popular activity in which you explore the jungle on an elephant’s back. Elephant safari is done in a group, so any individual needs to join with another person/group. The total number of a person in one elephant is four people.

Elephant Bathing is possible during the summer season only since in winter, it will be too cold for the elephant to go to the river.

Jeep safari in Chitwan is another interesting and popular activity though it’s possible from the 1st week of October till the end of June. In monsoon, the road inside the jungle will be impassable due to floods. But alternate Jeep Safari in 20,000 Lake is possible round the year.

Yes, you can opt for Jeep Safari instead of Elephant Back Safari as per your wish.

Staying overnight in the jungle can be done which you need to tell your travel agent in advance so that they can arrange accordingly. You will have a packed lunch and head out to the jungle in the evening with your jungle guide and stay in the treehouse/jungle house and wait for the animals to show up.

Yes, you can and you will have your own room but for jungle activities, you need to join with a group i.e. other travelers from the same hotel.

Yes, there are ATM in Chitwan but not inside the Chitwan National Park but outside at Sauraha.

Most of the luxury hotels in Chitwan have a swimming pool but there are also hotels where a swimming pool isn’t available.

All food and drinks besides alcoholic beverages are included during your Chitwan stay which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals served will be international cuisine including Nepali cuisine (Daal, Bhat). Usually on the last day, only breakfast is included.

Packing list for Chitwan national park wildlife safari depends upon your time of travel. In summer (Mar, – May) light clothing is recommended since Chitwan is in plain so it will be very warm. In winter (Sep-Jan) requires warm clothing and in monsoon (Jun – Aug) rain gears need to be packed. Colorful clothes aren’t recommended during the safari as it may attract wild animals.
