Highlights of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter
Religious Significance of Kailash Parvat and Mansarovar Lake.
Hindus call it an abode of Lord Shiva one inseparable entity of the Holy Trinity. Hindus believe that Mount Kailash is where Lord Shiva still resides with his family, his wife, Goddess Parvati, and his sons, Ganesh and Kumar. Hindu Yogis never fail to remind people that, Lord Shiva can be found meditating within the confines of Mount Kailash. It is said that there is no place on the Globe other than Kailash, where you can conspicuously feel the presence of Lord Shiva and experience the proximity.
For Buddhists, the Kailash Parvat is called Gang Rinpoche or Gang Tise which means “snow jewel mountain”. In many Buddhist scriptures, Mount Kailash is considered as Meru Parvat, which is the bridge between the land of mortals and heaven.
For Jains, Kailash Parvat and the premises are the regions where the first Tiranthakara, Rishabdeva achieved moksha. Ashtapad, a Jain pilgrimage site, was commissioned to be built by the son of Rishabdeva to commemorate the founder of the Jain religion.
Similarly to Bonpo, Mt. Kailash is the home of the sky goddess Sipaimen and the center of the ancient Bon empire. They also believe that Kailash Parvat is the father and Lake Mansarovar is the mother of the universe.
No matter what religion, Mt Kailash and Lake Mansarovar are unequivocally the holiest and the most sacred places on the planet.
It is considered oldest of the oldest pilgrimage tours in the world. For many people, it’s an ultimate pilgrimage tour to witness the magnificent granite mountain that serves as an anchor to the beliefs of millions of people of different religions.
How safe is Kailash Sojourn Via Helicopter?
The major safety concern for Kailash Sojourn Via Helicopter is the physical fitness of the pilgrims and tourists and travel conditions.
Pilgrims and Tourists are required to meet physical fitness level prerequisites if they are to do the Kailash Sojourn Tour. Since Tibet is the highest plateau in the world with an average elevation of more than 4,500 meters or 14,764 feet, the atmosphere is comparatively thin with less oxygen content. So, having good physical fitness to tour and trek in elevations as such is essential.
For our part, our crew will be carrying oximeters and medications that can help with altitude sickness. If you happen to observe signs and symptoms of altitude sickness we strictly advise you to report to our crew.
Travel conditions are other major factors that are beyond the control of pilgrims, tourists, and us operators. However, we can enlighten you more on this, so that you can prepare accordingly.
Doing the Kailash Sojourn via Helicopter with Autumn departure dates will be the safest option.
The departure dates for autumn can start from September and last until early November. The skies are clearer with unobstructed visibility. This means the flights to Simikot from Nepalgunj will be safe with very less chances of cancellation.
The conditions for a helicopter flight from Simikot to Hilsa are also impeccable during autumn.
During monsoons, the weather conditions can change quickly and once a clear sky can be murky in a short time. However, even in monsoon mornings, the sky becomes clear with great visibility. So flights are operated in the morning times during monsoons.
But it might always not be the case, the rigorous flying conditions are to be matched to perfection in order to get permission to fly. There are no gaps left for errors.
That means the chances of flight cancellation can be high during monsoons, but if there is a flight to Simikot from Nepalgunj it will be safe.
The helicopter flight from Simikot to Hilsa is safe even in monsoons. The helicopter flight path lies in the rain shadow area of Saipal Massif, which means even during monsoons, conditions for the flights are optimum with good visibility.
From Hilsa your journey will be smooth with no adverse travel conditions no matter what season.
Your safety is our main concern, and we are willing to exhaust all our resources to ensure your safe travel to Kailash Mansarovar via Helicopter.
Physical Fitness Required for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Helicopter.
Physical Fitness is a major factor to consider for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
The average elevation of Tibet is above 4,500 meters, which means the oxygen content is significantly lesser. Touring and trekking at such elevation required good physical fitness and good preparation.
Although the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Helicopter itinerary spends less time in Tibet, it still takes pilgrims and tourists around Mount Kailash, which demands physical fitness.
The 3-day Kailash Kora trek takes you to elevation as high as 5,600 meters or 18,372 feet covering distances as long as 16-18 kilometers or 10-11.18 miles a day. This requires a good level of physical fitness.
During 3 days of trek, physical fitness that allows a person to walk for 6-7 hours per day is required. Endurance here is a key term. More than explosive power, the tour requires pilgrims and tourists to build their endurance and stamina, which allows them to walk steadily for a longer time.
Anyone in their late forties to late fifties needs to give more attention to their physical fitness than others. For these people, going on morning and evening walks, light-moderate yoga and stretching, and a good diet every day for 4-5 months can allow building the required endurance and stamina.
For anyone below mentioned-age jogging, cardio-vascular exercises, and doing short hikes in nearby locations can help build the required endurance and stamina.
There will be acclimatizing stays at Simiko, Purang, and Mansarovar, which will help your body adapt to the thin atmosphere, but good physical fitness is uncompromisable.
A sound physical fitness means a sound Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, so if you are thinking about doing this tour you better start to wear out your running shoes and hit the tracks.
Meals and Accommodation during the Tour.
Since the nature of the Kailash Mansarovar Tour is religious, we ensure that our clients get served religiously unsullied vegetarian food.
Our crew will prepare all the food you will be eating after you start your journey to Kailash Mansarovar.
Our crew composed of a Chef will prepare delicious meals every day, including desserts like Jalebi as well.
Eating freshly prepared vegetarian meals minimizes the chances of food poisoning. Also, the cuisine culture of Tibetan people is very different, so a nutritious vegetarian meal, freshly prepared in Indian-Nepal style, which is easy to digest is the right thing to do.
Accommodations used during the Kailash Kora Tour via Helicopter are the best available ones and are explicitly mentioned in the itinerary. But in case if mentioned hotels are not available due to unforeseen circumstances we will arrange a similar accommodation facility.
The rooms will be provided on a twin-sharing basis with modern amenities in Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, and Tibetan cities. At Mansarovar you will be lodged at the dormitory, Paramath Ashram. Throughout the trek, the accommodation facility will be basic as these places are deep inside the mountain and not connected to the road network.
Altitude Sickness during the Kailash Kora.
Altitude sickness can be a major issue when traveling to high altitudes like Kailash Parvat and Mansarovar. Altitude sickness is a physical condition that arises when our body cannot adapt to the atmosphere with low oxygen concentration caused by quick elevation gain.
Altitude sickness can be a lethal issue if early symptoms are untreated. Some of its early symptoms are fatigue, dizziness, fatigue, insomnia, headache, etc.
We are aware of the fact that altitude sickness can be a grave problem, so our expert and experienced team has developed an itinerary that mitigates any possibility of Altitude sickness during the Kailash Kora.
Our itinerary consists of 3 acclimatizing stays at 3 checkpoints.
Simikot, situated 2,971 meters or 9,747 feet, will be the first acclimatizing spot. The flight from Nepalgunj to Simikot lasts only one hour and the rest of the day you will spend a beautiful day exploring Simikot and acclimatizing.
Subsequently, you will have reached Purang by mid-day from Simkot thanks to the Helicopter ride. That means you will have plenty of time for acclimatization. Purang is a strategic stop in our itinerary at an elevation of 3,900 meters or 12, 795 feet.
Similarly, half-day stops at Mansarovar and Darchen also provide enough acclimatizing duration for the body to adapt and evade altitude sickness.

Best Seasons for Kailash Tour by Helicopter.
The best seasons for the Kailash Parikrama Tour are late Spring, Monsoon/Summer, and early Autumn/Fall. The winters in Tibet are harsh resulting in adverse travel conditions.
Spring(March-May)
The beginning of Spring marks the recession of winter, however, the changes are unobservable. Though the temperature rises slightly, the conditions are still harsh.
By the month of May, however, the snow thaws to the extent that conditions are suitable for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. The skies are clear and the temperature gets noticeably warmer.
The keyword here is late Spring or from the beginning of May.
Departure in May is a suitable time for Kailash Parikrama Tour.
Monsoon/Summer(June-August)
Monsoon/Summer is a very suitable season for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by helicopter.
Tibetan Plateau is walled by the Himalayas on the north, which means rarely any monsoon clouds travel up and over the Himalayas to Tibet.
There could be sporadic rainfalls but it won’t be intense or heavy enough to make travel conditions bad.
The temperatures are also mild, the daytime temperatures can be in the range of 10-23 degrees Celsius or 50-73.4 degrees Fahrenheit. The nighttime temperature can however plummet below 3 Degrees Celsius or 37.4 Degrees Fahrenheit.
The monsoon/Summer season which can start from June and last until August is one of the best seasons for Kailash Parikrama Yatra.
Autumn(September-November)
Autumn is also a suitable season for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, especially the months of September and October.
The pellucid sky offers amazing visibility and the mild temperatures make the Kailash Yatra a pleasant experience.
The daytime temperatures during September and October range from 18 to -2 Degrees Celsius or 64 to 28 Degrees Fahrenheit.
From late October the temperatures begin to fall. During November the daytime temperature can range from 8 to -8 degrees Celsius or 48 to 17 Degrees Fahrenheit.
This means travel conditions during November are not as auspicious as during September and November.
Not the Best Time for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Winter(December-February).
Winter isn’t the best time for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. The daytime temperatures are below freezing point. The travel conditions are also unsafe. The Kailash Parikrama path is covered in snow and ice sheath.
The temperatures during Winter range from high 3 Degree Celsius to low -15 Degrees Celsius or 37 to 4 Degrees Fahrenheit.
Doing the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra during Winter is strongly advised against.
Extra Expenses during the tour.
The extra expenses that can occur during the Kailash Mansarovar Tour are minimal. There are no big towns with stores and markets to spend the money. However, the tour can extend for an additional day due to flight cancellations and other circumstances unforeseen circumstances that are beyond our control.
In such cases, pilgrims and tourists are responsible for the additional expenses. Also, you may want to make offerings during puja and shrines you pass through during the Kailash Kora. The pilgrims and tourists are responsible for expenses incurred for such reasons.
We advise pilgrims and tourists to carry around 200 USD worth of Chinese currency during their time in Tibet. It is most likely that the money won’t be spent, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
*Currencies can be exchanged at the immigration office near the border entry point at Hilsa.

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter tour package is a shorter Kailash Tour itinerary that can be concluded in 13 days without skipping anything. As the name suggests, the itinerary comprises a scenic helicopter flight over the far-western region of Nepal.
Unlike the regular Kailash Mansarovar Pilgrimage Tour approaches Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake in Ngari Prefecture from Hilsa, the north-far-western border of Nepal and Tibet.
The pilgrims and tourists, after acquiring a Chinese visa and Tibet Travel Permit, will fly to Nepalgunj. From Nepalgunj, they will again fly to the district headquarters of Humla, Simikot. A helicopter flight from Simikot will take pilgrims to Hilsa from where pilgrims and tourists enter Ngari Prefecture of Tibet.
This tour to Kailash by helicopter spends minimum time in the higher elevations of Tibet, unlike the standard Kailash Mansarovar yatra.
The itinerary consists of a helicopter transfer from Simikot to Hilsa. The helicopter flight provides pilgrims and tourists with an amazing experience of flying over the rugged geography of far-western Nepal.
The views of the rugged geography, pristine nature, and dotted villages beneath are mesmerizing. Besides the Kailash Kora and Mansarovar visit, the helicopter flight is also a major highlight of the tour.
Kailash Mansarovar by Helicopter tour itinerary is a perfect choice for those with motion sickness, who cannot travel long distances by road. On this 13-day tour, pilgrims and travelers will spend only 2 days on the road.

Though the elevation gain is steady, the trek stretches 15 km or 9.32 miles, and walking such distances in elevation that high will be quite challenging.
The trail condition also may vary depending on the season you will be doing the Kailash Kora, so scheduling your Kailash Yatra during apt seasons can make a huge difference.
You will trek all the way to the northern side of Kailash Parvat, where Dirpuk is situated. You will be checked in at the hotel at Dirapurk.

The day hike today is the toughest hike of the Kailash Parikrama.
From Diraphuk, you will initially move along the areas north to Kailash Parvat until you reach Dolma La pass. The trail to Dolma La pass can be strenuous to walk on. The steep sections with loose rocks and icy sheath can make the hike precarious.
By the time you reach Dolma La pass, you will have gained 800 meters or 2,624 feet. Dolma La Pass is elevated 5,660 meters or 18,569 feet above sea level.
Afterward, you will descend down, losing 900 meters or 2,593 meters, to Zuthulpuk. You will now hike on the valley east to Mount Kailash, approaching the end of the Kailash Kora.
The trek from Dirapuk to Zuthulpuk is 18 km or 11.8 miles, and waking such distances at high altitudes can be exacting on the body. On top of that the descending hike can be tough on the knees, so utter caution is required.
