Kyanjin Gompa is a beautiful tamang village tucked deep inside the Langtang Valley surrounded by mountain vistas all around. One will be mesmerized by the beautiful view of the mountain panorama. Along with the ethereal mountain view Kyanjin Gumba boasts a vivacious Tamang Community residing in it. Nepal’s first Yak Cheese factory can also be found here, where Yak Cheese is produced using traditional methods.
The Langtang region and its valley are known for the hamlets perched in scenic lush mountainsides of multi-ethnic cultures that seem to be sculptured into the land. The area to the north in Lantang boasts glaciers flowing south from the peaks of various mounts like Mount Langtang from which the region gets its name, Mount Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Lakpa Dorje, Yala Peak, Naya Kanga, Gaurishankar and others lie in the aerial view of the flight. Then you fly over the Alpine lakes of Goisakunda, a revered lake to the Hindu faithful for it having a relic of the Hindu God, Lord Shiva.
The visit to the Kyajin Monastery perched on the ridge overlooking into north gives you a spectacular look of not only Langtang Mountain at close range but also the glacial basin. The monastery itself is held in high reverence in the Buddhist faith for not only its virtues but also for its historical significance. It is believed that the monastery itself is 700 years old, and the region’s name is based on this very monastery. Langtang Heli tour brings out the best of Langtang in a short time of two and half hours with memorable Photographs to prove it.
Phase I
Phase II
Note: The above-mentioned itinerary is tentative, there might be changes of ±30 minutes, depending upon the location of your stay, air traffic, and other similar influencing factors.
The Helicopter ride takes travelers to pristine regions of Langtang from where one can gaze at mountain peaks like Kyangjin Ri(4713 m), Tsergo (Chergo) Ri(4984 m), Gosai Kunda, Lauribina Pass(4610 m), Thadepati Pass (3690 m) and many more providing a beautiful view of mountain peaks like Langtang Lirung (7227 m), Langtang II (6596 m), Yubra (6264 m), Yala Peak (5550 m), Dorothea Himal (5748 m), Penzom Himal(5719 m), Langshisa Ri(6427 m), Gangchempo(6387 m), Pangen Dopku(6930 m), Naya Kanga(5863 m), Yansa Tsenji(6567 m) and many more. Travelers also get a beautiful view of the landscapes below with its green valleys, rivers, and streams. The helicopter flight provides a magnificent bird’s eye view which is unavailable to conventional travelers.
Kyanjin Gompa village is the last village/settlement area located on the trekking trail. The village is situated at an altitude of 3830 meters above sea level. Named after ancient Gompa, this village is mostly populated by people belonging to the Tamang community. This community is believed to have migrated from Tibet over 400 years ago. It is a beautiful village whose essence has remained intact and preserved and successfully remained unspoiled. While in this village trekkers will get to witness and even be part of the daily life of the people of this region. Travelers can visit Yak Cheese Factory which produces all kinds of dairy products from Yak milk.
Like Kyangjin Gompa throughout Langtang region is filled with villages where time has stood still. Where life is more relaxed and slower-paced, where the materialistic nature of humans has subsided and people have learned to enjoy and cherish the small things. Travelers will get to observe remote villages that people of the Tamang and Sherpa communities mostly inhabit. One can find the true essence of village life while witnessing these villages. Because of the treacherous geography of Langtang, it is less commercialized and is very remote. This factor can be attributed to the villages and settlements being unadulterated by modern influence. One can witness the quintessential rural village of Nepal while on this trek.
The people of the Tamang and Sherpa Communities mostly inhabit Kyangjin Goma. The Tamang and Sherpa community is believed to have migrated from Tibet around 600-700 years ago. This is why the culture, tradition, and lifestyle that trekkers come across might seem different than those found in typical Nepalese cities. Tamang and Sherpa communities have a prominent Tibetan influence on their culture, tradition, and lifestyle. They mostly follow Mahayana Buddhism. Tamang community celebrates Sonam Lhosar or Chinese New Year, whereas Sherpa People celebrate Gyalpo Lhosar which is the Tibetan New Year. Trekkers will observe prayer flags, walls with prayer wheels, Chhorten, Buddhist shrines, stupas, and stone inscriptions all over the trail. The local architecture is also fascinating sightings for the trekkers, homes with stone roofs, low ceilings, wooden beams, and other similar things can be seen.
The lifestyle of people living in these regions is also very intriguing. With no proper road connection, and very little availability of resources people of the Langtang region have persevered and thrived in these regions. They depend heavily on farming on very scant arable land available, and cattle for sustenance. Yak and Sheep are the major cattle that have assisted them to survive in these harsh conditions.
Langtang Helicopter Tours will put you on the front-row seat and allow you to witness the fascinating culture, tradition, and austere lifestyle of the Tamang and Sherpa communities of Kyangjin Gompa. You will get to familiarize yourself with the countless untold stories of woe and joy of people Langtang.
