Overview
The popular pilgrim sites both for Hindus and Buddhist, Muktinath, is located in the Mustang district towards north-central Nepal at an elevation of 3,710 meters above sea level. A pagoda styled temple of Lord Vishnu is the prime feature of Muktinath besides the 108 water spouts where it is believed holy water pours for Hindus to bath for washing away sins. Closer by is the Buddhist monastery for the Buddhist pilgrims. Muktinath is also considered as the ‘Mukti Chhetra’ which means the ‘place of salvation’. Pilgrims in thousand visit Muktinath each year to liberate their souls from the cycle of re-birth and pay homage to Lord Vishnu.
The day trip to Muktinath Darshan is ideal for anyone who has short traveling days and also for those who are not capable of the physical trek in the Himalayan outback. Muktinath is located high up in the Himalayas at the foot of Thorong-La pass and requires about 2 days of the trek after flying out to Jomsom from Pokhara. The helicopter tour will swiftly take you from Kathmandu and directly towards the Annapurna region witnessing great mountain panorama of peaks like Mt. Annapurna range, Fishtail and flying across the Pokhara Valley. Stopping at Jomsom for re-fueling then continue towards Muktinath, perform puja and eventually fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.
