Overview

Short Nagarkot Hiking is easy trekking giving full insight into the village life of real Nepal and witnessing some of the great Himalayan views. The program allows one to explore the natural beauty of Nepal and at the same time observing the living culture and traditions. Spectacular views of the mountains like Gauri Shanker, Langtang and Mt. Everest can be spotted during the hike and from Nagarkot, the Himalayan vantage-point just a stone throw from Kathmandu city. Sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas are also equally appreciated from Nagarkot. Initially, the trek starts after driving to Sankhu, an old Newari town, then hike towards Nagarkot. Spent a night at Nagarkot then the trail descends down to the temple of Changu Narayan, considered the oldest temple of Nepal built around the 14th century. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Afterward, drive back to Kathmandu. Short Nagarkot Hiking is ideal for those having limited traveling time frames and who are looking into easy hikes around Kathmandu Valley discovering the local culture and observing some of the beautiful Himalayas of Nepal.

Outline Trekking Itinerary for Short Nagarkot Trek
Day 01 : Arrive in Kathmandu
Day 02 : Drive to Sankhu, Trek to Nagarkot 3-4 hrs
Day 03 : Trek down to Changu Narayan (3-4 hrs) & drive back to Kathmandu
Day 04 : Transfer to airport for your onward destination

Itinerary

After your arrival at the airport in Kathmandu you will be greeted by one of our representatives who will later transfer you to a pre-booked hotel in Kathmandu. After hotel check in you can decide whether you would like to have a relaxing rest at the hotel or hang around the streets of Kathmandu (If you have leisure time). O/N you stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Sankhu which takes about 1 & half hours drive. Sankhu is an old Newari town where Vagrayogini Temple is located. A big melafor one month is celebrated here during when pilgrims are on fasting and worship the goddess Parvati. Upon arrival at Sankhu, hike to Nagarkot which is an easy hike with the trail passing thru terraces and fields. O/N at Hotel.

At the break of the dawn, witness a spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas. The first rays of the sun hitting the mountains are simply amazing with the peaks glowing in a multitude of colors like pink, gold and red hues. After breakfast, trek down towards Changu Narayan. The temple was built in 14th century and dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Then met the vehicle and drive back to Kathmandu. O/N at Hotel.

Your trip to the majestic country of Nepal comes to an end today! You will be escorted by one of the representatives of Breakfree Adventures to the international terminal of Kathmandu airport approximately three hours before your flight schedule. We exchange our last good-byes. You will be leaving Nepal with all the good memories you had during the wonderful trekking adventure to Nagarkot. We hope you had a lovely time with us.   • Nepal entry visa fee: you can obtain a visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. (a multiple-entry tourist visa good for 30 days can be obtained by paying US $ 40 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, multiple-entry tourist visas for 90 days can be obtained by paying US $ 100. Please bring 2 copies of passport-size photos.)

Tour guide

We use comfortable car/mini-van for the sightseeing tours. For up to 2 people, car is provided and mini-van is for the group 3-10 people.

The tour duration is about 03 nights/04 days.

Clothing
Clothing varies with the type of tour and season. It’s warm in Kathmandu from April to October-end and from November to March-end, days are usually warm but evening colder. Summer clothes are okay during the day time but the evening requires a light jackets. Winter is from December till February so bring along sufficient winter wears like jackets, sweaters, trousers etc. Or you can purchase clothes of your choice in Kathmandu clothing stores too.

Meals
Breakfast is included while in Kathmandu and Nagarkot.

Nagarkot
Nagarkot is the closest Himalayan view-point from Kathmandu City located 32 kms towards the east. Some majestic mountain panorama can be witnessed from here in a clear day that includes Annapurna in the west to the mighty Everest in the East. Historically, Nagarkot was a place for the royals of Nepal to escape the scorching heat of summer and a hectic city life. Nowadays, its the popular junction to enjoy the picturesque rural scenery of terraced rice fields, green pastures, the sunrise and sunsets from tourists to locals alike.
